Our volunteers give countless hours each week, on call in uniform and fully equipped, ready to attend 999 emergencies in support of East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS).
Many are also registered with GoodSAM, making themselves available 24/7 to respond to life-threatening incidents within their local area - dropping everything, day or night, to deliver vital care before an ambulance arrives.
Our team includes people from all walks of life: some retired, some full-time professionals. When logged on, responders rarely know what awaits them - each call brings something different. Whatever the situation, we’re there to preserve life, prevent suffering, and promote recovery.
We work under EMAS deployment protocols and standard operating procedures. Every CFR is DBS-checked every three years and completes regular training updates in CPR, AED use, oxygen therapy, medicines, and paediatrics.
It costs around £2,500 to fully equip each responder, and we rely entirely on community donations to stay operational. Your support helps us recruit and equip more volunteers across Rutland.

Incidents we are not dispatched to
In line with EMAS dispatch policy, responders are not typically sent to:

Road traffic collisions (RTCs)

Incidents at bars, pubs, or clubs

Domestic violence incidents
*You may occassionally see us at one of the above, when either the scene is safe or backing up another crew.
Training and community involvement
We meet regularly to check kits, refresh our clinical skills, and share experiences. Communication between responders is constant through our secure group chat, helping us coordinate cover and support one another.
You’ll also find us out in the community - providing first aid cover at local events such as the Greetham Valley vintage car show, or running free CPR and defibrillator demonstrations for village groups.
